Redesigning a University Department Website

Role: UX Researcher | Timeline: 8 Months | Tools Used: Contextual Inquiry, Participatory Design, Focus Groups, Thematic Analysis

The university department’s website was a constant pain point for students and faculty. Outdated design, poor navigation, and irrelevant content meant users often avoided the website altogether. My role as a UX researcher was to uncover the root issues through direct user engagement and provide data-backed recommendations for a new design.

Problem Statement

Users felt disconnected from the website’s structure, finding it difficult to locate essential information. Faculty members found the site cumbersome for sharing updates, while students complained about hidden or irrelevant content.
